Great for beginners and advanced canyoneers alike.
choose to ghost the canyon or use the anchor stations, your choice. Fun and exciting either way. Awesome views.
Approach
Parking is at Sabino canyon visitor's center. Fee is required Daily pass (8$) yearly (40$).
There are three options. 1. Be lazy & take shuttle tram (15$) to the start of the approach. 2. Hike the sabino canyon road to the start of the approach (3.7 miles). 3. Using several connecting trails to reach tram stop 9 (Bear canyon, Phoneline, Sabino canyon #23). Using the trails adds about 8 miles to the day, worth it if the weather is nice, amazing views throughout the hike.
Descent
Once the saddle is reached locate the least spikey route down to the wash. Follow wash down canyon to the first obstacle. The canyon uses 2 bolt anchor stations. Canyon can be ghosted with sand trap.
Exit
Follow Sabino creek back the way you came towards the end of tram stop 9.
Red tape
Parking pass must be purchased to park at recreation parking lot or overflow parking spot.
