Introduction[edit]

Remote wilderness slot canyon with several downclimbs (up to 4m) and a huge amount of swimming - longest approx 100m. It would be difficult, but possible to reverse the entire trip requiring several swimming starts to climb up small waterfalls.

Canyon grading:

V2

  • - Easy climbing and down climbing with little exposure.
  • - (V1) No rappels, rope normally unnecessary for progress.

A4

  • - Prolonged immersion in cold water. (Swims longer than 30m, with no current)
  • - (A3) Simple jumps between 3 and 5m

Commitment:

  • - No escape in entire canyon.

Approach[edit]

Follow the walking track up to Mount Sonder, when it gains the ridge, walk west, following the ridge all the way to the start of the canyon.

Descent[edit]

Exit[edit]

Follow the walking track back to the car.

Red tape[edit]

Overnight off track walking needs a permit.
