Introduction
A remote slot of Navajo Canyon. 70' longest rappel. Wetsuits seasonally required and pothole gear always required.
This canyon, like others nearby, require a motorboat to reasonably access them, as they are located quite deep within Lake Powell.
All canyons in this area require the use of advanced retrievable anchor techniques; sandtraps, being the most useful. These slots are not bolted and traditional anchors are not to be found, nor should they be installed, please respect this tradition for the area.
Approach
Descent
The canyon is basically a long string of potholes, many of which are keeper potholes. As in a keeper pothole into a keeper pothole into a keeper pothole... and so on, into the distance.
Bring at LEAST three potshots and 5 ropes. Usually involves a LOT of sandtrap anchors, so bring at least 2. When wet, might require a WaterPocket or two. Mostly, bring the A Team! Not for the faint of heart.
Exit
Red tape
Permit required from the Navajo Nation.
