Introduction

"A short but sweet canyon, the walk in is over before you know it. It gets more traffic these days, and has a narrow lower section which is the highlight. It can dry up in the winter months, so the best time is after the new year or after some rain has been. As usual, if the water level looks high, don’t do it. " -- Vertical Adventurer

Approach

Park on the north side of the cattle grid. Walk directly east until you hit the rabbit fence (about 100m). Follow the fence about 700 m, then turn left (east into QLD) onto a fire trail. After 300 m, turn right and follow a combination of firetrail/grass/footpads to the creek. The first abseil is immediately downstream with bolts on the TL.

Descent

Three abseils all with double bolts.

First abseil is about 32m, second is around 40m and a small one to finish. A pair of 50m ropes joined will get the job done.

There is a single bolt that acts as a safety to get to the main double bolt anchor for the second abseil.

  • Exit

To exit proceed downstream a short distance until you see a large square boulder with a strangler fig holding it on the left bank (you can’t miss it). Climb up above the boulder to the base of the cliff line, follow the base of the cliff line to the right for a few hundred meters until there is a easy way up following a rock ramp. From here, rejoin your entry route.
