Introduction[edit]

This canyon features several waterfall rappels and a grotto swimming hole with relatively minimal effort to access.

Approach[edit]

From Windy Point parking area, go around restrooms and then right. Immediately make way down steep slope and down gully to reach main canyon.

Alternatively, continue down to end of windy point, hike down past climbing area and descend gulley.

Once in watercourse, continue down canyon.

Descent[edit]

  • Edit* 7/3/22 new anchors have been installed for R2 & ALT R2.


R1: 50' bolts LDC. Rappel is all walk down.


R2: 50 ft from single bolt LDC 6ft above watercourse, accessed via easy downclimb (slippery) ALT R2, from the base of R1, scramble up high RDC To ledge. rappel 60' from 2 bolt anchor station or set up fun guided rappel using massive downed tree at bottom for the anchor :)

Some hiking.


R3: 80' bolts RDC. last 20' free hang.

Shortly after is R4.

R4: 120' bolts LDC. Goes down chute.

15 mins of boulder hiking and downclimbing.

R5: 125' bolts RDC into swimmer pool aka Grotto.


R6: 90' Oak tree RDC into pool.


R7: 85' Rock pinch RDC.

Exit[edit]

Hike up LDC on use trail to cross Bear Canyon.

Follow use trail up, staying on clean exposed rock, class 4 scrambling, to below road turn off. Go left to get up and to parking.
