Introduction[edit]
An interesting narrow slot to visit on the way to/from Las Vegas. There are also couple small caves in the vicinity that may be worth a visit.
Approach[edit]
If exiting interstate 15 at Afton, you will need to cross the Mojave River. It could potentially be too high for a passenger vehicle. If taking the Basin Rd exit be prepared ot off road a little bit with some soft sand.
Descent[edit]
The canyon is approached from the bottom by ascending the canyon itself. First you go up canyon climbing the drops with partner assists and occasionally some static ropes. Then you come back down with the option to rappel or just handline it.
Make sure you pack a headlamp. The canyon gets so narrow and the walls so high that you will be plunged in complete darkness.
Exit[edit]
The topology of this area has changed considerably since the USGS Topo was created, double check a recent map or image source if you plan to exit the canyon any way other than back down it.
