Introduction[edit]

A simple very short slot canyon with a surprising amount of vertical. Three abseils in short succession, all with somewhat “challenging” starts. The second abseil is the highlight: a descent in a dark slot lined with a few ferns!

Wetsuits are optional but be advised that the pools at the bottom of some of the waterfalls can waist-deep.

Approach[edit]

  • Download the GPX or work out your own route
  • A faint track exists along most of the route in (if following GPX)

Descent[edit]

Problem number Type Metres Location Note
1 Abseil 5m RC Sling on tree
2 Down climb 2m RC Avoid down climbing on river left... it's muddy and will deteriorate with excessive traffic. Stick to river centre.
3 Abseil 30m RR Sling on tree. Pool at bottom can be waist-deep.
4 Down climb 2m RC Log may be present to assist in down climb. Otherwise use "meat anchor" to assist first person if necessary, who can then provide a "spot" for rest of team.
5 Abseil 10m RC Sling on bolder in floor. Pool at bottom can be waist-deep.

Exit[edit]

Once down, you walk through a pretty corridor filled with tree debris, then you reach a nice sunny spot for lunch. Then you climb up the left and head back up a steep ascent with a fairly defined track back to the power line track, and then Bells Line of Road.
