Introduction

Can stay over at Daisy Plains hut / camping area -30.90311, 152.29042.

Approach

From Daisy Plains hut, drive down Mines Road.

Car shuffle, finish car - at junction go right along Mines Road and drive until you see a sign pointing to a lookout of Felters Falls. If road is clear further, continue down as per GPX of exit. Park the car. In other car, go back to junction.

Take the left road (Cochrane Firetrail). Follow this road until you get close to Carrolls creek, then park the car. All of this driving requires a reasonably high clearance vehicle and definitely not a 2wd.

From the car, walk to the part of the creek where the contours start getting closer together. Walk along the ridge on CL, but could probably walk down the creek, likely takes longer.

Descent

All bolts are mono

Clouds Creek
Rap M L/R Description
R1 25m CL Bolt on rock. Overhang abseil - rock is very very sharp! Make sure to bleed or go double. Waterfall shoots out from overhang - pretty cool
Bit of creek walking to get to next drop - includes very flat mini slide
R2 35m CL Have to scramble down a bit to get to bolt on very edge. Pool at the bottom is deep - get inn the flow it’s pretty fun!
R3 20m CC Bolt right on floor. Pool at the bottom is deep - can go down to ledge below boulders and jump into pool from there.
R4 20m RR Sling around tree. Walk to edge of boulder - look over edge to see tree - scramble down to it.
R5 15m RL On boulder. Getting to bolts is tricky - swim across flow in pool to small eddy created by rocks. Get up out of eddy and do dodgy climb around to the other side of the boulder - that’s where the bolts are. Once you are there you can set up and then pass the rope to people once they are in the eddy. Can jump the drop instead from rock on CL, but will still need the rope to get there.
R6 25m CL On wall. There is a sling around a log on creek centre left if you want to set up a traverse line to get across the pool - not super necessary though as the spillover isn’t too bad.
R7 25m CL On wall. Waterfall drops multiple times.
Real nice slot section starts now - walk/swim down. A ledge will appear on CR with some trees on it - next anchor is on this ledge. To get up, climb up onto boulder and then step/climb across onto ledge, then walk along ledge for a bit until anchor.
R8 15m CR On ledge. Sharp edge - person can put foot there to avoid rope rubbing.
R9 10m CL Sling on tree. At end of slot, scramble up rocks on CL to tree. Can also jump this drop (bit dodgy)

Exit

Walk down creek until exit point on GPX. Creek walk involves a bit of scrambling. From exit point - go up ridge on CR - head leftwards to get onto ridge sooner. After you turn right-ish and walk up a bit you get to a cliff, head left and pretty quickly you will get to a point where you can scramble up. Continue up, once you get to top of ridge try to get onto fire trail ASAP. Firetrail is still overgrown but still much better than the rest of the bush. Follow trail back to car.
