Introduction[edit]

This route has something for everyone - rappelling, downclimbing, stemming, swimming, arches, grottoes, an optional R-downclimb, X-downclimb, and XX-downclimb. It's a true canyoneering experience and is suitable for all levels, providing the more experienced canyoneers with the whole spectrum of downclimbs. First-timers or beginners may want to rappel the 5 anchors. The 1st anchor marks a 20 foot drop into a sublime grotto under a big hidden arch with a pool; this can be fairly easily down climbed on left with a partner capture at the bottom if needed. The 2nd anchor is a roughly 25 foot drop, or it is an X downclimb by bridging over the top and then coming down with an Iron Cross to a short jump. The 3rd drop is a two stage drop that is about 20 feet in total; this is a fairly easy downclimb using the anchor webbing to lower down the first drop and by lowering into the pool through the crack at the bottom with a partner assist. The 4th anchor is a 35 foot sublime rappel behind a chockstone and down a dark chute and then a pool; alternatively a XX downclimb has been done by going off the right ledge to a chockstone about 6 feet down and from there chimneying down 20 feet in a wide chimney with extreme care to pick the right angle and a difficult dismount. The 5th and final anchor marks a 40 foot rappel, or it can be down climbed on canyon right by crab-walking down to a fin and then climbing down through the rabbit hole for an R downclimb.

Approach[edit]

Descent[edit]

Wetsuits can be taken off at the confluence with East Fork. After this point the one remaining narrows can be climbed around on canyon left, or stemmed over any water fairly easily.

Exit[edit]

Look for cairns. It's a convoluted route up.
