Introduction

This is a beautiful Canyon north of the valley of San Jacinto and Hemet. The hike consists of a semi steep mostly trail hike up the slope via Soboba paragliding School. There is much exploring to be done in this area. This Canyon was first ran in December of 2016 and 90% of the rappels were made with cairn anchors. That being said, knowledge and experience in Anchor building and navigational skills should be taken into consideration.

Approach

Drive to Soboba paragliding School and speak with the Personnel that work there because they have a nice maintained Trail that goes mostly up the mountain. When hiking off Trail you must be very careful of snakes and other traversing dangers. Soboba paragliding School will make you sign a waiver and depending on their mood for the day might make you pay a small fee to use their Trail. Once you hike up there Trail you will see antennas at the top of the mountain before reaching the first one you must stay to the right and head north east over a ridge to drop into a valley. Be careful not to get cliffed out or navigate through dense and sharp vegetation.

Descent

R1: 70' - cairn

R2: 55' - boulder

R3: 85' - boulder

Downclimbing

R4: 60' - boulder (optional)

R5: 50' - cairn

R6: 50' - boulder

R7: 60' - cairn

Most of the time during the winter when rain flows flash floods erode the entire mountainside so most anchors may be washed down.

Exit

After the last rappel it is only a short hike out of the canyon back into the valley. Turn right and walk back to the paragliding School.
