Comments: Given the condition of the webbing, no one had been through this canyon in quite a while.
There’s no practical way to access the route without parking at the Soboba Flight Park. They’re very welcoming of canyoneers…because they’re going to charge you $25 per car to park there. Would recommend consolidating vehicles off-site before your visit and/or negotiating the fee down.
Long approach made easier by the service road & trails maintained by the park. Hiked up to a tier high up on the hill that they’ve named Darth Vader, then made an easy off-trail descent to the canyon.
Did a lot of housekeeping on this route. Cut out all the old bleached webbing. Replaced and rebuilt every cairn anchor to make them safer and easier to inspect. Also added 1-2 anchors on some optional downclimbs where the correct line wasn’t clear from the top. Future groups will be able to move through much more efficiently.
Cool route! Great practice for anyone training up for Death Valley. Lots of tall grass on the route, so look out for the usual snakes and ticks.

Comment: Took the well maintained approach trail up a hillside blooming with flowers in 1:15. There was a beautiful meadow near the top of the canyon before the rappels began, then the first four rappels were close together. Made use of some existing anchors and built a few new ones. Rappel details have been added to the beta. Next to no bushwhacking in the canyon. Descent took 2:25. This was a super fun canyon rather reminiscent of Death Valley.
