Comments: Thrashed up an overgrown logging grade along the west side of the creek and dropped in above the falls. Lots of woody debris in the creek - likely damage from winter storms - which causes Big Alder to lose some points. If more people were running it, would likely clean it out a bit. Once the rappels start they're rapidfire, culminating in Big Alder Falls and the short narrows which is the best bit. Fun way to spend a few hours if you're passing through the area. Probably more interesting with more water.

Comment: Great day! I love Big Alder for how many raps you get in a short run. Great for showing friends how to set up anchors. There’s a big log on R4 now that makes you either take the mossy slide or go directly in the flow. But no problems. All anchors look good. R6 had a lot of junk on the anchor, but we cleaned it out. Less than 2 hours car to car!

Comment: We did this canyon in the summer and it wasn’t tons of fun. We came back in the winter and it’s much more fun in the winter. Perfect training ground for higher water. The falls all had some push to them but there really aren’t any pools. On caution I. High water is you could get pushed off the last set of falls, just stay on rappel until you get to the anchor. Way more fun with more water. It’s a quick run! All anchors looked great. Last photo is the last set of bolts(in the water course in higher flows)

Comment: Ran the canyon on the way home from kayaking in the area. Water was high but very manageable, making the narrows at the bottom very fun. The bushwhack in had quite a few overgrown thorny plants.
