Comments: The primary goal was to retrieve a rope stuck the week before while descending Corona Gulch. We all did the rappel, but split between the ascent and exiting up the Josephine Creek exit. Difficulty rating reflects the fact that due to the long rope being stuck in Corona Gulch, we had to join two ropes and pass a knot.

Comment: Set 1st rappel to a big healthy bush 60" new webbing to the big tree. Cleared lots of loose rock and use a mat for rope protection. 305' rappel was super fun, We set up ropes for ascending on the north drainage but opted to just walk around.

Comment: The drop is still fairly clear from lat November, when we knocked off the chossy rock. We used a C-IV rope this time, but didn't experience abrasion issues, possibly due to careful placement across edges. The weather was gorgeous, but as we were finishing up, some dark clouds were rolling over the horizon.

The birds nesting on the cliff face make for a great view as you rappel and then ascent past them. Glorious.

Comment: Fun rappel. Spent a significant amount of time clearing loose rock, thus the “Good” and “Special Challenges” rating. Subsequent trips should have less to deal with, though, the entire area is generally unstable and there are still some blocks that should be removed in the future. We ascended back up the rope, so no information available about other possible exits. Mind the rope on edges. Nothing was noted as being particularly sharp and the ledge 30’ down is a friendly edge, but the rope did sustain a small fuzzy spot from rubbing on a block just below the ledge. It might be helpful to put a rope pad in this spot and near the top if you plan on putting the extra stress of ascending the rope.
