Comment: A wonderfully scenic and adventurous trip. 3 days car to car. As one in our group mentioned after exiting "that's the most effort I've ever put forth for 6 rappels."
We car camped the night before at the drop in point. The scramble down is steep, loose, and the sketchiest part of the trip in my opinion. Good route finding and exposure tolerance is required. The technical section through the Redwall is stunning. The lower section through some Tapeats narrows are beautiful as well. Because we were exiting Nankoweap, which is 11 miles downstream, we stuck to the rules and hiked the first 3 miles along the river to put in at President Harding Rapid to float the last 8 miles. Those 3 miles of river hiking were the most miserable I've experienced in all of my Grand Canyoneering. | |||||||
