Comments: We spent approximately 5 relatively leisurely hours from reaching the top of La Gloria to returning to the same spot. Maybe 1.5 of this was relaxing and taking pictures in the canyon. The hot water in the canyon was nice, but we were all slightly chilled the rest of the time. We didn't wear wetsuits and the air temperature was in the upper 70s or low 80s. Wouldn't have needed a wetsuit, but a rain jacket and other insulating layers were nice to have.

Comment: We attempted this canyon from upstream. the trail down is steep and beautiful. I believe it is the trail shown upstream of the marked point on the topoworld layer. It's easy to follow once you figure out where it leaves the dirt road.

We set a handline to get around an intense pour over into a pool that wants to grab you and drag you under the flow. We then set a ~10 m fixed line at the first rappel. we got 3 bolts into the traverse and bailed. The fourth bolt was several meters away across a steeply sloped face. Reaching it would have required a deliberate pendulum. We could see people descending on the far side of the grotto using the recommended route. The water is hot and fierce and filling the vast grotto with sound.
