Comment: We did the sneak route up to the top of Charmin's Tube, the 200' drop. THis was maximum juice for the squeeze on a fun and beautiful route with some quality rappels.

Approach up the sneak was steep but short. Eventually the trail disappeared and as we neared the top of Charmin's Tube, the cliff band started to deteriorate under foot. When I felt the traverse no longer became safe, I rigged a rappel from a live tree and dropped 50' down to the water course just behind the main anchor. I feel this was the right move.

Charmin's Tube is a wonderful 200' rappel, very vertical and enjoyable! The Corkscrew rappel is also pretty neat! At the final drop, we utilized the rebelay station. The webbing here was tattered and incorrectly rigged so I replaced it.

4/3 wetsuit was perfect.

Over all a very fun worthwhile sneak route!

Comment: Many of us were wearing 4/3s with shells and were fine but chilly; would recommend a little thicker especially in the early morning. Overall a gorgeous canyon with some fun and interesting raps. Nothing too challenging except we bailed after R13 in the early afternoon when it started raining for fear of flash floods and returned the next morning to finish it off. The exit there was super short and easy, and it felt like we respawned when we came back to the exact same spot. If you’re looking for a short morning canyon, coming in through the sneak approach before R12 or R13 and doing the latter half of the canyon would be a great payoff for a very short approach.

Comment: Incredible big cascading raps with fantastic flow, beautiful features and lots to see!! This canyon was a real treat!

The hike up is a grind but not as bad as Corbett. Mostly in the shade if starting at 8am. We decided to go visit the Chief Ouray Mine before starting the canyon. Definitely some neat stuff over there!

I wore a 4/3 suit with rain jacket and was comfy.

The canyon had alot of large fun raps so you can really get pounded by the flow! Also had some great down-climbs. On the final rap, we used the hanging re-belay station, which, in it’s self was alot of fun!

The re-belay anchor is not easy to find unless you know where it is, there are a few videos online that show it. When I found it, it was caked in mud and blended into the rock perfectly.

Definitely one of my favorites in Ouray!

Comment: Excellent canyon! Lots of water in fun mode, great rappels, and excellent scenery. The watercourse is very slippery, and team work is very important to keep moving. Be careful with the second 200 ft drop. There is a opening under the anchor which can be fatal if you fall through when you contact the anchor. A climbing move can be done but we ended up hooking the rope through and threading the rope into the anchor chain master point. one of my favorite C class canyons.

Comment: The canyoning guide book described this as fantastic but very hard canyon: hard approach, hard downclimbs and very risky final rappel. A group had done it the previos day and took 11h, but since all anchors were set it only took us 6.5h car to car. As soon as we were out a thunderstorm arrived. Groups behind us sit it out for couple hours or escaped the final section. The final section is really fantastic. If I had to do it again, I would hike in from the bottom and do only the final section.
