Comment: Parked at the east trailhead, to get the short road march over with first. Good move, given the potholes in there.

“I’ve never seen stacks of dead cars in a can… Oh.

Tall rap was fun until it wasn’t. It features two pools, the first one pretty inescapable. There’s a point where one could work DCL, I think, if you wanna throw down more climb skills than I was ready to attempt while solo. Landed on a little dry ledge. Footprints in the mud along the more dry side of the pothole told a story: Very recently, a sheep had come here for a drink, sank into the mud, and in terror unburdened itself of some giardia diarrhea as it escaped. I tried throwing sticks onto the mud to attempt a sort of snowshoe bridge. No dice. Shoes covered in mud/manure. Suddenly, I was Principle Rooney in Ferris Beuller’s yard. But instead of a Rottweiler, I just had 3 million mosquito larvae twitching in the water and laughing at me.

Final drop is not a bad downclimb, so I went for it, but the fun was ruined as I had to dodge my own reesty footprints all the way down.

Passing through and looking for a decent quick canyon? I’d say skip this, do Blue Pools or Wildcat (if you’re up for stemming), or Diana’s/The Hunted further north.

Comment: Not a destination canyon, but worth stopping by if you're in the area. The pothole rappel was filled with extremely stinky knee deep water/mud that looked like it had a dead animal in it. The first to rappel in our group made the mistake of going right into the muck, but it can mostly be avoided by landing on a ledge and traversing around the deepest part.

Comment: Stop and check it out if you are driving through. There was one rappel with a pothole midway through that was about thigh deep and full of clay that stuck to everything. That was the deepest pool. Everything else was pretty shallow. That rappel also had webbing waaaay back. Recommend a toggle to pull it.

Comment: An okay little side quest to hit if passing through! Semi interesting rock features. The rappel pictured on the beta page shows 2 sand filled potholes. These were scoured out and full of water. Unsure of depth and not wanting to get wet, we climbed over to the right found a rock to fix a rope for our party to rap down and I down climbed. Pictographs are at the end on right before wash opens. They are faded and not too exciting. We left a vehicle at East trailhead and shuttled up to West.

Comment: Afternoon canyon. Team of 6; started at original parking lot and circled back on the highway. R1 webbing dcl was decent and didn’t have any concerns; downclimb/R2 via meat anchor dcr using the lip for favorable geometry. Petroglyphs at end made for a unique experience.

Comment: A lot of bang for your buck in an hour - the stacked cars were neat, the sculpted rock and narrows were quite pretty, and the petroglyphs were fun to see. Anchors were present and in good condition.
