Comments: Coyote Canyon Right Fork gets no love compared to Left Fork. It's for good reason too because the canyon is overgrown and a pain to get through. Even when it joins Left Fork, the bamboo and shrubs are always in your face. If it wasn't raining on me, I would have spent some more time gardening.
Right Fork doesn't have very many redeeming qualities about it compared to Left Fork which is a lot easier to navigate. If you are looking for some bushwacking, spicy down climbs (these are a bit fun), and 1 memorable rappel (attached) with a slight freehang, give Right Fork a try!
The questionable R3 purple anchor is still there and holding (soft start this).

Comment: Yes, the drop-in is steep with loose dirt, scree and small rocks, but it's quick enough to descend to first few downclimbs and rappels. I cleaned up quite a bit of deadfall (special challenges) so the next run will be better. The short rappel at R3 is pretty sketchy, just getting to the anchor off the small bush. Rappel 5 and 6 seem to be duplicates in the beta as I took pictures of every anchor, yet only have one rappel between R4 and R7. Having done both the Left and Right fork now, the Left fork is a way better canyon run.

Comment: Parked at the nature center and had a chance to revisit Coyote Canyon again. Approach is easy as you are on the trail to Henninger Flats. Drops in is a little hard to find as it's all overgrown. Once you drop in, it's steep as usual.
Since my last visit, all major rappel points have webbing and rapides installed. The shorter drops were down climbed although some of them were a little tricky. Last rappel could be done with a 200' rope as I had plenty of rope on the floor using the 110' figure from the wiki. As always, use your judgement. Exited and rejoined Eaton Canyon trail. Found a backpack with car keys and a dead phone right after the last rappel. If it's yours, it's at the Nature Center Lost and Found.

Comment: I brought my hiking poles with me and I'm glad I had them at the drop in. Helped with the steep, crumbly terrain up front.
Don't expect any prebuilt anchors/bolts on this route. You are on your own. Be creative and safe. Plenty of options when it comes to natural anchors. Route is very overgrown (see drop-in comparison). You'll be often bushwhacking, fighting the bamboo army, and even downed trees as you make you way down. It's a good place to practice natural anchor building and homing your scrambling skills. I was able to bypass many of the shorter rappels by down climbing. Watch out for poison oak as it can be deceptively hidden in potential anchor bushes. | |||||||

Comment: 0:55 approach on an unseasonably warm Super Bowl Sunday. Canyon was filled with fun downclimbs and easy rappels. Used a combination of existing anchors, directly wrapping bushes, and fiddlesticked the final 110'. Brush was low. Technical section took 1:00.

Comment: The drop in still very steep, crumbly & loose so we took a route in a bit early than the topo map that traversed sideways a bit more. The canyon itself is still crumbly & we watched some rock slide on its own from a side drainage while at R5 so be mindful of rock fall. R2 still is a tricky spot where some people might want to build an anchor.

Comment: a few tricky down climbs with LAMAR partner assist.
The 9th rappel is 80ft as a 2 stage. Rappel 15ft to the landing and you can see the remainder of the rappel. The anchor is a bush RDC that is 10ft back & 10 feet higher than the start of the rappel. We also saw a cairn 20 feet back LDC that may be the marker for a down climb going RDC away from the rappel all the way to the right. The upper section is steep and loose with an exposed section. There is a possibility that day hikers may have used this instead of using technical gear.

Comment: Not too brushy. A little poison oak but avoidable. Anchors in good shape. Night descent.
