Comments: We visited this cave during our 4 day trip down Rio La Venta. The cave entrance is beautiful and houses impressive formations right from the start. About 3/4 of the way in to the river, you'll reach a powerful waterfall with a beautiful formation that "drapes" over the falls. Getting above these falls is exposed and slightly tricky. There are bats near the entrance of the cave and we found some lying on the ground (alive). We were not sure why they were on the ground but watch your footing. Descending/ascending gear is required.

Comment: Did not do the thru-trip - it's only doable March-April. Instead, we entered at the lower entrance from the river, and then several days later at the upper entrance. From the upper entrance we descended to the Escaleras del Diablo section. There is a ton of rope work in this cave, making it far more technical than internet sources suggest. Be prepared and experienced in hanging reblays, J-hangs/swings, tight rappels, route finding, etc. Much of the cave is unremarkable in appearance, but the good galleries are quite amazing.
