Comments: Incredibly fun approach with some fun 4/5th class moves. Highly recommend dropping packs once you reach R1 and heading to the summit for a little extra challenge and some incredible views. The raps are all straightforward with easy rope pulls. Watch for cactus at bottom of R4 when pulling the rope. Great route to avoid the crowds!

Comment: 5hrs unhurried and going to the top of the peak.

Trail starts off excellent, then leaves it and becomes non-existent, steep, and loose. Some of scrambling is semi legit, but fine for experienced people. We did something different from the track at first switchback on GPS. Upper peak has steep, loose, and exposed places with high consequences.

Canyon itself has almost nothing of value or note. R3 bolt is very poorly placed, unnecessarily at the edge. R2 has lots of loose rocks and can be dangerous. Recommended to do a regular pull and not a fiddlestick (especially with pull cord)

Deadmans Hollow has a prettier alcove pic and more fun approach

Comment: A fun, engaging, worthwhile route.

The approach up is fairly straight forward.once leaving the trail there is lots of loose rocks and soil, be very careful. I lead then belayed my partner up one of the longer 5th class sections. A grigri would be good to bring if you have one just in case.

The descent was okay, pretty enough, raps were decent. You can see the hoards of people lined up at Devil’s Bridge, screaming and yelling in the distance.

The bolt for the 25’ rap is in a sketchy spot at the very edge of a low angle slick chute. We rigged a traverse line off a bush to access it.

The 230’ rap was pretty sweet, I lowered my partner below the knot, re rigged as releasable then passed the knot myself. (Because who has a 230’ rope!?)

The big rap and the last rap were the best for sure. Not worth skipping the last rap in my opinion.

Replaced webbing on 230’ and added webbing on tree for final 80’ rap. All other anchors good.

Ruins below 80’ are nearly non existent, unfortunately…

Exit hike was easy and straight forward following wash whole way.

Fun enough day. I wasnt overly floored with this route but was definitely worth doing once!

Comment: First descent along with summiting the above peak. Times for just the canyon could be much less.
