Really nice day through Dillinger! All anchors looked good although we replaced a rusty quick link on rap 4 with a new one. This is one of my favorite route in Sedona with so much bang for the buck. Very reasonable approach with minimal bushwhacking. 8 raps with the highlight of course being the 170 footer at the end. Extremely easy exit walk down day canyon trail.

Comment: Beautiful day in Dillinger canyon. Rebuilt R7 anchor (second to last rap) which required climbing up onto the shelf to inspect. Strap was a conglomerate of 5 pieces of webbing in various states of aging. Replaced with all the webbing I had on hand (about 30') to maintain quicklink accessibility without needing to climb the shelf. Judge me if you must for the short length of hot pink webbing I had to use to get it done. Could probably be replaced with a longer piece of black webbing and wrapped once around the base of the tree for stability!

Comment: Rebuild R5 anchor (first for Half Dillinger). Almost no ice left in canyon but some water still, otherwise normal conditions.

Comment: Canyon is holding some ice, enough to be cautious especially around the first rappel and while walking in the middle section. Some ice, but enough exposed rock to not slip. We set temporary safety lines between R0/R1 to protect everyone near the edge. Most anchors looked to be in okay/good shape, except R4 (first rappel of Half Dilly) is missing webbing but can be ghosted. R6 (2nd to last) has new webbing. Canyon is also holding some water but it is all avoidable.

Comment: Decent training canyon for beginners and a good option to introduce folks to Sedona canyoneering, IMO. Scenic and straightforward approach. Upper section is a good warm up, and could bail before committing to the lower section if necessary. Brush towards the top of the route is minimal and forgiving. Downclimbed R1 and R3. Some pretty fall colors around R4. All webbing is in good shape. Noticed rope grooves are developing at R7. Adjusting the anchor position higher on the tree or using a releasable may prevent them from worsening. A worthwhile route, though Half Dilly is higher value.

Comment: Half dilly route, perfect for a quick, late day run. Pulled the R6 or R7 (can't recall which one) rope too soon and had to build a quickie deadfall anchor to make it down a 10' wall. Otherwise uneventful. Final rap, the big freehanger, is a blast.

Comment: Half dilly route was good. set a knot chock ldc at 2nd drop so that a member could bypass bypass downclimb. all anchors good.

Comment: Full route. Rattlesnake encountered between upper and lower section. Setup anchor on first 15' rappel. Replaced webbing on 12' rappel. Pretty windy for last rap. Great day!

Comment: Took the 1/2 dillinger approach and stopped in at the fay canyon overlook. The approach is more scenic, and less arduous. This way gets you straight to the best part of the route, and provides a more scenic approach. May end up adding this alternate route kml file to the main dillinger route, but it's straightforward.  head right on the social trail before big spire at first bench.

Anchors looked solid, although some wear is developing by the knot on r1.

Enjoy!

Comment: took the social trail to the right/east at first bench and traversed to the bottom half. time is car to car in knee deep snow with frozen anchor cicles. were able to stay out of the watercourse. After the snow storm this route was a real treat.looking forward to returning via sneak traverse approach.

Comment: Route finding was a little difficult. We missed the first 4 rappels on accident, when we bushwaked and down climbed the drainage. But the rest of the trip was awesome. Canyon was beautiful. The anchors on the last four raps are in good condition. The climb up is strenuous, but will be passable for less than athletic people just add some extra time for the climb.

Comment: Webbing on all anchors was great. Went the main drainage route, skipping the option 3-4 rappels in beginning, due to time. Great last rappel.
