Comments: Time reflects full Eagle. Stayed in the watercourse for the whole descent due to the uncharacteristically warm weather this weekend. 5/4 was comfortable but I could have managed in a 4/3. All hydraulics were either easily navigable, avoidable, or non-existent.

Comment: The heat took a toll on us today and slowed us down quite a bit. The lower portion of shwack out from the upper section is very thick! Water was already a little lower compared to last week. There is an active yellow jacket nest to the right as you go up the exit from the lower section of the creek.

Comment: The rain didn't add much, if any, water to the creek. However the little side tribs were flowing which made the trip all the more beautiful. Metloka pool and falls is even more beautiful than in the past as the log jam below Sorrenson Falls is gone and there are a couple logs spanning the outflow that you can easily jump off of. There's even a diving board for the more adventurous!

Comment: Did a short run of Lower Eagle. Water was completely comfortable in a 5/4 and we stayed in the water a lot. All jumps are good, both bolts on Metlako Falls station were loose so we tightened them up. Great day.

Comment: Came up from Arizona for this amazing route that felt like a fairy tale, and it did not disappoint!

I carried a 4/3 + 2mm shorty, and my friend a 7mm, but water was quite a bit warmer than expected. I would do this with just a 4/3 (or even less) for conditions like these.

All hydraulics were super tame but the slides are still fun.

One of us successfully recovered a knife from a deep pool, but in doing so sliced open his hand.

Comment: Great day in the creek with some fun folks. We ran full Eagle. At Skoonichuk, found new webbing at high flow rappel. It was mossy green color, so we left it. Also found at the high flow rap, piles of human refuse & toilet paper ::sigh::. Rapped Skooni on the recent bedrock + cairn anchor DCR to the first tier; jumped the second. Floated & played in all hydraulics, slid H2, it is currently clear of obstacles.

Put out 65' rap side for Punchbowl, length was perfect (a few feet above the water line). Traversing the log jam was surprisingly stable. For us, all logs were above water line and stable; no floating logs to navigate. Felt easier to pass than the log jam the last couple of years.

100' of rope was perfect at Metlako; beta updated.

On exit, it is easy to be lured out of the creek too early, resulting in an uncomfortable (if short) 'shwack. Continue downstream another 50 yards until you have easy, no 'shwack access to the flat rocky landing. Head up the well worn use trail from there.

Comment: Dropped in above Skoonichuck. Removed high-water anchor on fallen tree (blue webbing and no quick link). Usual cairn anchor DCR was gone. This pitch should really be bolted for long term viability; non-shiny hardware probably best to keep it discrete. Spent hours jumping, sliding, and playing in the pools / hydraulic features in the upper section before thrashing back up to the trail. Skipped the Punchbowl logjam and zoo of people down on the beach, taking the lower trail and dropping back in for the lower section. Spotted another canyon team down at Metlako, but didn't catch up with them. (Use caution climbing on logs spanning Metlako exit as they seem to be solid, but look precarious.) Exited back up to the trail at the usual spot. Encountered hiker suffering from heat exhaustion mid-way out and assisted helping them back to the trailhead where a SAR team had just arrived. All well.

Comment: Did just above Punchbowl to exit. All old jumps go. Some new diving boards in there. Log jam below Punchy could be an issue if you fall thru. Don’t.

Comment: Great switch-up after a few days in tighter class C creeks. We were unable to find the Skoonichuk (R1) cairn anchor described here. Placed and retrieved a webbing anchor at an inviting DCR boulder. No other surprises. Hydraulics all tame.

Comment: Ran full Eagle. Conditions surprisingly nice and sunny; you would never know there's an uncontrolled wildfire about 4-5mi away. Rangers were present warning people about the local trail closures, but Eagle is still open. Replaced R1 anchor (webbing severely abraded, but nice shiny quicklink). Hydraulics are at fun playful levels currently. There much floating and pool-lounging. Jumped up to the trail after the upper section (route is pretty brushy, bring a machete), and then back in above Punchbowl.

Comment: This was perfect flow to run Eagle. The water was mod/mod high and fun. We were able to float many parts of the creek that would normally require swimming. There were some white water spots to avoid but mostly a fun water park day.

The closest flow gage I see is the flow check for Duncan - N FK BULL RUN R NR MULTNOMAH FALLS OR, it's reading 30.3 cfs and 94% - Moderate.

Comment: Possible first descent of Full Eagle this year as we had to rebuild the anchor at R1. Water levels friendly, no hydraulics. One new giant logjam in upper Eagle; climbed up the middle, then downclimbed DCR. Jumped back up to the trail (bit brushy) after the upper section, hiked down, and dropped in above Punchbowl Falls. Spent awhile lounging in the Metlako amphitheater but abandoned kayaks were found (sorry, PhiL). Adjourned to Thunder Island Brewery post-canyon to recuperate.

Comment: Super chill, relaxing descent of lower Eagle. Saw several deer foraging in the creek just where we dropped in above Punchbowl Falls. Only two rappels, but lots of jumps, floating through the narrows, and basking on rocks in the sun. The drop into lower Punchbowl is now clear of wood - and some of the logjams downstream have disappeared. Kayak under the logjam in the Metlako amphitheater has disappeared. Adjourned to Thunder Island Brewing to recuperate post-canyon.

Accidents from people jumping at Punchbowl Falls (usually non-canyoneers) are on the rise again. I suspect it's just a matter of time before the area above the falls gets close to public entry by the Forest Service.

Comment: We dropped in just above Punchbowl to run the best section of the canyon. Spent a good time playing in the Metlako amphitheater and found someone's lost kayak stuck under the logjam. Packed out more trash that'd probably been washed down from Punchbowl. Another fun day in Eagle!
