Comment: LOVED this canyon. Had so much enjoying a little bit of everything. Classic Utah slot. Highly recommend. Good for intro to canyoneering as well.

Comment: Second time in this canyon. This is the canyon that made me fall in love with canyoneering. Love it. Great for beginners. The webbing on the deadman really needs replacing soon.

Comment: fantastic canyon for an easy half day. We rapped the entrance rather than downclimbed. All the anchors are in great shape. The slides are fun, wear a butt pad. The canyon was bone dry. We took the the exit up the to the rim rather than the wash exit, great views from up there and views along the rim of the canyon were cool. Watch for a lot of crypto up there.

The road out to the canyon was in great shape too. One of my favorite easy canyons.

Comment: Currently the whole Egypt area is dry. Meaning, there isn't any snow, ice, or mud on the plateau, in the canyon, or the exit. We didn't even find any damp earth. With clear sunny sky and temps in the low 40s during the day we did need jackets at times but as we started moving through the canyon layers were quickly shed.

We skipped the traditional first drop and instead opted to fiddle off a tree. I cannot remember the state of mid-canyon anchors (we did 4 canyons this day and things blend together) but I do know that we did not need to rebuild any anchors in Egypt 1.

Comment: We parked right next to the entrance of the canyon. The road to Egypt 1 is very drivable and we had no issues driving up to Egypt 1 in my Rav4. The first anchor is a cairn anchor and it is setup so you can check the webbing all around. This first rappel was easy even as a first rappel for the person that was with me. The second rappel is off a choke stone with a courtesy setup you can also check the webbing all around. This second rappel has an awkward start for someone new but not hard. If you look down canyon from this rappel you will also notice that the canyon drops and you can not see the short down climb around the corner. I ended up being a meat anchor for that section for the new person. The next rappel if off a dead man and can also be done a fast slide but be careful. The last rappel is also a dead man but the webbing looks a little beat up and I was unable to dig out the dead man to replace. It is 10 feet just be careful. The hike out easy and short, as you hike down canyon, you will see a pothole to the left, go up that section and you will see a corridor up ahead, follow it all the way to the end, do a short climb and you will see the parking areas up ahead.
