Comments: Had a great time in this slot. Watery section near the end was completely full but there was still just the one swimmer. Ran Horseplay right after and East Fork Leprechaun in the evening.

Comment: Some very pretty sections in this canyon lots of neat sculpted rock to look at. A bit of water throughout canyon that was avoidable with stemming. Now for the final narrows. This section is definitely unique and the prettiest. It is all tight high stemming sustained over water for quite some time. I am tall so I was able to chock my knee and heel between the walls and work my way along that way. Others that were shorter had a much harder time with a few spots. Some of our group were becoming uncomfortable. Then came the bag drop… one of us dropped a bag down into the water had to retrieve it. They said it was super cold and as the final unavoidable water section came up a few of our group didnt want to get wet. We stemmed back through the crack to the open area before and were able to find an exit up the slabs B-lineing it to our car.

Comment: All required raps had anchors in good condition. An old sling blew on rap 1 anchor, the one left is solid but in not as good of a location, would replace with one in a lower spot. After much consideration we escaped Canyon left to skip the narrows. It is too tight to squeeze through the floor and the stemming is high for much longer than anticipated. Was no problem to go up the slick rock, walk quite a ways along the ridge top and then drop back into the canyon at the gully for the short exit. Final rap and walking through the cathedral is worth it. Escaping this way keeps you completely dry.

Comment: Water in slot at end. This water is reportedly always present and possibly from a spring. We did not bring wetsuits, even though it was 60F, windy and partly cloudy with freezing nights, and were fine without them. It is a lot of narrows to haul in wetsuits, and the water involved 5-10 minutes of mostly ankle-deep wading, and the swim was literally 10 seconds.
Most of this canyon is ho-hum, but the final narrows are one of the best sections in North Wash, if not the entire canyoneering world. Definitely do not do just the first parts of this canyon, as the best part is the last part.
