Comments: What this creek lacks in technical interest, it makes up for in convenience and esthetics (at moderate-low levels anyhow - I think much lower and it would be pretty boring and quite slimy). This is a fantastic beginner canyon - only 3 rappels, one in the water course adds some fun. Also, the approach is a trail the entire way and you have service the whole time. A number of fun little slides too. That said, its still a technical canyon so beginners should not take that lightly.

Comment: Slippery as to be expected and flowing steadily. Replaced the webbing and quick link on the dry rappel for R5.

Comment: Upper part of the creek is slippery as usual. Lower part has a couple rappels with nice flow, and is beautiful as always. All anchors in great condition, including a couple with nice new black webbing (thanks, Becca!)

Comment: Approach is pretty steep for the first half, without stopping to check the flow it took us 25 minutes to get to the top of Hall Creek falls. We walked for a few minutes up the creek to check it out. All anchors were in good condition. There is another rappel between #2 and #3 in the description, I'd call this #2.5. It may be downclimbable on the right, but given how slipper this canyon is, I would not recommend it. I think this is a 5 rappel creek. #4 anchor was difficult to find, all black against black rocks in the water, just FYI. We put a new ring on it. An anchor for rappel #4 was set up from a a tree on DCR rather than on the tree stump in mid-channel.

The water is low, and you only get exposed up to your waist and hardly spend anytime in the water. This could be done with no or very thin wetsuit when the sun is right above the canyon. We used a 3/2 regular and 2mm shorty, started our descent at approximately 7pm. The water is very cold, but air temp was around 74 degrees.

Comment: Fun, short, easy! We decided to ghost this, since alders on the channel boundaries are abundant and make for great fiddlestick anchors. The waterfalls are all low angle and easily rappelled in the water at lower flows. This canyon would make a very nice challenge with potential escapes throughout most of the canyon (if you're willing to bushwhack up a steep slope) during the fall or spring. Air temperature was decently warm, but the water is chilly. I started out in a shortie and changed into a full wetsuit midway through after getting a bit cold.

The approach trail is very nicely built and makes this a very fast trip. Thanks to whoever did all the work to build up the Hall Creek and Zig Zag Trails! The first time I explored this area, they were just tiny boot paths.
