Comments: Absolutely love this canyon for the pay-to-play ratio. Short approach to back-to-back free hanging rappels. One teammates first canyon. She loved it. First rap has a tricky start. May want to creep the rope depending. Replaced anchors at R4/R5 as they did not have any webbing on them. Anyone running this canyon, bring extra anchor supplies.

Comment: An excellent day out through this drainage. The melting snow produced a trickle of water which was especially delightful in the lower grotto.

We skipped R1 and combined R2 and R3 into 1 long rappel (~180ft) which seems to work better than using the usual anchor at R3.

All anchors were left in good shape.

Comment: Such a great classic route! We started at R1. Found webbing to be missing on tree and replaced it. All raps are fun and freehanging! I always prefer the alternate R3 that goes past the ruin site, a much better rap! Beautiful striping in the deep alcoves, never gets old! Practiced self rescue techniques at last rap. 3hrs 15mins.

Comment: We skipped R1 and started our descent at R2. We combined R2 and R3 into a 200' long rap, which we think actually works better than breaking them up. There doesn't seem to be any issue with the rope or pull cord getting stuck when combing them as 1.

R2, R3, and R4 were missing webbing, so replaced as needed. Though, since we skipped R3 it's still missing there. Webbing at the final 2 rappels looked good.

This is a great little drainage. Definitely looking forward to coming back in the spring to experience it with some flow.

Comment: Huge thank you to whatever group just ran before me, all webbing is practically new if not new as of this run, black blue water webbing makes me a happy boy. Tabletop overhangs do not, but that’s just me, great place to experience them if you are looking for it. Bolts of last rappel still of great quality, some bits of loose rock so be careful.

Base of final rappel is beautiful and a great place to relax.

Comment: As always, one of the best bang for your buck canyons in Sedona. All drops are super fun! Lots of sculpted over hung alcoves! With the large group we opted to bypass R1.

Comment: A 5 star run in flow.

Special challenges are for the flooding of approach drainage and conditions. The roads are pretty much washed out during heavy downpour which can make this area hard to access. We were rewarded with a watercourse/ alcove system brought to life with some good flow from the winter storm. Rain layers were helpful but would probably consider better neoprene on the feet and hands and maybe a vest next time. All anchors looked good.
