Comments: Returning to Idiot Creek after a couple of years; a nice one to do in the early season. Not as much water as last time, but still a fun day out with a trio of great waterfalls. Explored a new route out. Beta has been updated.

Comment: Plan B for the coast range and we probably traded up. After an inch of rain the previous evening, Idiot was ripping with some care to keep your footing even when crossing the creek. Highest I've run the creek at, but turns out all the current anchors are good even at this level. Get a bit of a pummeling on R1, but in a good way; do not wear a pack. R2 allows you to slip down behind the falls, and R3 is always a joy to rappel. Thrashed out and nobody fell in the swamp this year.

Comment: This is a great rainy day creek. You have a direction choice on R3. Choose to go toward the water rather than to rap straight off behind the anchor. I edited the beta and added 25 feet to R3. I used a 180 foot rope and had 40 feet on the ground. I feel like 140 is a more accurate number.

Comment: Easy approach. Three really fun raps. R3 is fantastic as noted. There was a bit of snow on the ground, but everyone stayed pretty warm (entire team in dry suits though). We came up a bit short on our rope for R3. Might be worth re-measuring this rap. Based on the amount of additional rope we had to use, we were guessing it could be off by about 30 or more feet. We exited DCL to the road. The hike before the road was pretty steep. Took us exactly 3 hours car to car.
Pro tip, if you’re headed back towards Portland our team highly recommends stopping at the McMenamins Grand Lodge to use the soaking pool after!

Comment: More photography outing than a canyon run. After a surprisingly fun descent of the east fork, we followed the western tributary up to go see the "Big Idiot" waterfall on the west fork. We then thrashed up and out to a road just above the west fork. A good one for a rainy day in the coast range.
