Comments: We seriously underestimated this canyon and learned the hard way this is not a place to bring a group of beginners without wetsuits who aren't comfterable with the cold or stemming(though I do not find a wetsuit necessary for myself). We wound up bailing at the top of the chamber rap.
As advertised, the downclimbs are tricky. There are 3 serious downclimbs prior to the rap, the first of which we believe to be a rabbit hole that was recently filled in. We rapped this one since downclimbing the face in the flow seemed too sketchy.
This canyon is surprisingly beautiful, the prettiest of the short Catalina canyons. Can't wait to go back and finish it!

Comment: water was a bit chilly but the canyon is physical with only one rappel so not a lot of sitting around and getting cold. fun and straightforward route. thanks Russell! | |||||||
