Comments: The climb up from Chantry Flats to our drop-in point was barely over 1 hour. Given this was the maiden exploration trip, we chose to go down LSA 2.3 because the drop-in looked less steep and it had good thicket of weeds to hold soil together. Quickly the descent becomes rocky with short downclimbs. About 600 feet down we built a rock cairn anchor for the 1st rappel. The rest was down-climbable until we got to the 70 foot rappel into LSA proper. The varying terrain is amazing and since all the tributaries are flowing, there was considerable water flow by the final rappel (see pics). Once in LSA we put on wetsuit for the chilly water and high flow (see LSA report) The sub 3 hour runtime was also just to LSA proper.

Comment: Parked near the exit of LSA and took a Lyft to Chantry Flats. The firebreak approach took just over an hour and the highlight was seeing a bobcat, the first time I've seen one in the wild. I dropped in at (34.196, -118.039) which is the "LSA 3.0" gully per Willie's nomenclature. It had a lot of scree and downclimbs at first but got more verdant and pretty lower down. I did one 100' multi-step rappel at a beautiful junction of three waterfalls near the confluence with LSA. Descent of the gully took a little under an hour. LSA was a lot of fun in high flow. I didn't need to use the new aid climbing anchor immediately after the pothole but stayed on rappel from the previous anchor while stemming over the boil.

Comment: Big thanks to route developer(s) for getting this one set up so quickly.

Fun night run, exciting to see how much the canyon has changed, and to get in it with that much flow. Bolt ladder anchor was not used, instead a meat anchor was provided and the two most experienced team members assisted each other in down climbing.
