Comments: Checked out the "shortcut route" in. Route follows a somewhat overgrown powerline access track, but significantly cuts out the initial stream-walk / rock-hopping section of the original route. Definitely a win for getting you into the rappels a lot faster. Map / compass / GPS strongly recommended as it's easy to get turned around out there. Creek itself was in good shape with low water. A lot more water features & potholes were visible -- lots of exposed bedrock. A number of the log jams of last year appear to have been blown out by high water last winter... there are a few new ones below the final rappel, but nothing too challenging.

Comment: Skamania County presents: Canyoneers on Ice! Icy conditions in the creek made travel slower, but cool to see. Water level lower than expected - sometimes it was good to stay on the rope on account of the ice. Do not try to drive up to the 4WD parking area as there are, currently, a bunch of fallen trees that appear to have been felled right across the road. Found an abandoned 2WD car (how'd they get up here) on the hike in and reported it to Skamania County Sheriff's office. There is a big fallen tree at the southern end of the swampy area on the fast exit which has made a huge mess of the area. Definitely easier to exit when the vegetation is not leafed out.

Comment: Most other creeks in the area were running at "extreme", so this proved a good choice. Approach via the shortcut route was super easy as apparently some maintenance was done to cut back vegetation in the upper powerline corridor. There's almost no bushwhacking on the approach currently. Nice.

Comment: Didn't have a shuttle, so had to do the long hike up from the lower parking lot. Water is very low, deepest pool I encountered was about waist deep and could probably have been avoided.

Comment: Big precip dump the week before resulted in surprisingly high flow on local creeks. Flow was substantially lower on LWW a month ago.

Comment: Scouted a new approach. Still a good bit of streamwalking at the beginning, but not that bad. Eight raps. Flow conditions were great. Some debris from winter storms.
