Comments: We did the full canyon from the top. In hindsight, I'd skip the upper section and just do the lower. The upper canyon is 1 star imo and if starting at the lower, I'd give it 3 stars. Dropping into the lower section offers very cool narrows with lots of rappels and downclimbs.

Approach: 4:42 Canyon: 7:07 Exit: 10 Total was about 12 hours

Approach: The approach didn't seem well tracked or marked. We spent a lot of time bushwhacking and never really found a worn path. Maybe we were just off track or maybe the full canyon doesn't get done that often. It's a brutal approach if you decide to go for the full canyon.

Descent: Top section is very loose rock with big, open rappels. Bottom section has lots of log jams in some very narrow slots. We tightened some loose hangers and installed a bolt around rappel 23 on canyon left. V threads in lower section were in good condition. Some rusted rapides need to be cut out and replaced.

Exit: Easy as. 10 minutes down the creek

Comment: Amazing day in Major Mayhem! We dropped in at the 800m entrance

A little more than 2 hours on the approach, less than 3 hours in canyon

All anchors were serviceable. Galvanized rapides on many anchors are becoming quite rusty

Crew generally was in ~5/4mm of neoprene and comfortable (we were moving fast). Those without rain jackets were chilly when waiting for ropes to become free in breezy sections of the canyon.
