Comments: 5hr approach via Munra Point. Reached the powerlines, then dropped down slopes into Moffett. A long day out and a lot of waterfalls. Stuck a rope at Wahe Falls and had to come back for it a week later. Fortunately, there's a way to bypass the final rappel.

Comment: Oh Moffett - we gave you a second chance because we thought the new approach via Munra point would be better and that the flow would be more exciting. While the hike was spectacular (but steep!), the off trail de-proach of bushwhacking through forests of devils club AND mossy loose rocks with holes made the approach most miserable. Most raps are done outside of the water which also takes away a few stars. I would recommend dropping in right before the 160' foot drop if you do want to run the best section that this canyon has to offer and to avoid a lot of river slog. This is probably the toughest canyon I've run in the PNW (not technically but the most physically demanding).

The water flow on the date we ran it could be considered moderate/moderate-low.

Comment: The group opinion is that this is not a premier canyon in the Columbia River Gorge. The beta on this canyon needs to be optimized as currently, you'll need to hike 9 miles just to get to the first rappel. The hike up is pretty but you hike up an unnecessary 1500 ft only to hike down to get into the canyon. If there is a way to cut out the approach, this canyon would be a 4-star canyon but currently, with the way it is written, it is not. The creek is wild, rugged, and slow moving. Wearing long sleeve and pants (unless you are in a wetsuit) is recommended as you will look like you got into a fight with a feline after the canyon. Be careful of loose rocks when rappelling off the edges, slippery logs, logs that can impale you, slippery rocks, and thorny bushes! You must carefully manage the rope by creeping it and by using a rope protection method. The rock is sharp and it will coreshot your rope quickly.
