Comment: Based on recent weather and seeing some pools in the upper part of the canyon, we decided to suit up at the joint intersection (mid point). Pools encountered were mostly thigh to waist deep. We used some prerigged chock stones on two of the down climbs before reaching rap 2. Rap 2 was rigged as dead man. We were stunned to find the webbing tied to a rock the size of a fist! There's not a lot of good building materials here, just lots of small rocks. The sand was wet here too so we used a sand trap to get down and we harvested a bigger rock from the R3 platform. R2 is now rigged from the lower pothole and requires a low profile rappel as the anchor rock is just slung into the pothole. The pool below R2 was a swimmer. The anchor at R3 was a little beat up so we re-rigged it using a dead man. R3 is probably one of the best drops in the region. Very clean, easy pull on the fiddle.

Comment: Great canyon. Good canyon problem solving, stemming, downclimbing. We enjoyed using a sand trap.

Comment: Incredible canyon! Beautiful throughout with fun challenges! We had a beginner with us that had never done this type of canyoneering with stemming and challenging downclimbs so we went slow and spent time teaching. He is 230lbs and barrel chested. He was able to fit throughout with effort. He did very well! The tight stemming section is short. All the potholes are full, didnt need to use gear to escape. There 2 that would be serious keepers but can be carefully stepped over, one is while rappelling. We did need our sandtrap for the 2nd to last rappel. Multiple short swims throughout. 4/3 wetsuits perfect. The final drop is sublime!! Exit out is long but beautiful and engaging! There is a small 5th class crux on exit at the top of the first scramble up. So many unique features beautiful scenery, and gorgeous rooms, what a stunning canyon!! 7.5hrs

Comment: Great day in a beautiful canyon! Completely dry with a couple of easily escaped pothole challenges and lots of partner assisted downclimbs. Pulled old webbing and used a sandtrap at a couple of raps. Rebuilt the deadman/cairn for the last rappel & used original webbing on buried rock -- this will need replacing soon. One sketchy upclimb on the exit required a handline assist. Temperatures still hot, so better to plan an exit late afternoon for shade.
