Comments: Found only 6 rappels, most anchors and webbing in good condition. I think we may have replaced webbing on a couple anchors. The rock throughout the canyon is very sharp; the sharpest I've encountered in any canyon. The approach is steep but not loose. The canyon itself has excellent views of the the Stovepipe area and Mesquite dunes. The rock in the lower part of the canyon is beautiful.

Comment: Found and completed (6) rappels. All anchors were present and solid. Some webbing was fairly sunbaked, but still totally usable.

The approach was very steep, make sure to ignore the well-trodden footpath that heads into Mosaic, and gain that ridge. The rocks on the ascent were very solid and grippy. Fairly easy to find head of canyon once up top.

Gave this one a Special Challenges rating due to the sharpness of the rocks at the rappels. Glad we had our 8mm Canyon Extreme, the rocks were the sharpest we have ever encountered (only our 4th DV canyon, but well versed in AZ canyons), so be aware of this fact.

Excellent way to have a unique experience in a very popular DV tourist attraction.

Comment: Fun approach and a great short canyon! On R2 the rope started to stick on the pull and in yanking it we dislodged the master rock of the cairn such that the sling came off and fluttered down with the rope. There were plenty of interesting downclimbs.

Comment: Good canyon with a really nice approach with good rock. A surprise for Death Valley. Really cool to have several options of descents depending on how fast your team is on the approach. Only one cairn was washed out and required a rebuild. Replaced all webbing. R4 was particularly cool with the large roof and big nest.
