Comments: Took a beginner down East Canyon--pretty decent, low-consequence route for introducing someone who was a bit nervous about rappelling. Nothing to write home about if you've been down a few, but it can be done much more quickly than our time reflects if you're looking for a short outing. In retrospect, might've been a questionable move to run this in June, but the heat wasn't too bad once we got into the canyon.

Handline on the second rappel is a sunbleached abomination. Quicklink above seems pretty bomber, so I'd highly suggest just rapping off that instead. Webbing on the third anchor replaced recently. Could be extended further for a clean pull--if I make it back out this summer, I'll take care of both and post an update.

Ran into a woman on the approach who said she saw a couple sidewinders in West Slot. We were out there last Sunday and didn't see anything, but it's worth keeping in mind

Comment: Parked at bottom of road directly into the canyon. Up South Slot, connect over and up West Slot to the mine. Climbed up the hill and dropped into the top of the East Slot. Three raps, max 30ft. R1: metal picket anchor. R2: webbing handline under a boulder. R3: deadman anchor, rebuilt. Back down and up the road over the ridge back to the car. Hidden ladder seems to have disappeared? Separate excursion over to see the Palm Slot. Tricky to find; bring map & GPS.
