Comments: A fantastic gem! Beautifully intricate slotted walls, very clean big rappels, a total treat!!

The approach hike took us about an hour and was very pretty and easy. Once down in the canyon, the rappels came quick and all of them were very enjoyable, down clean, sheer, wavy slot walls.

The big sequence R5 & R6 is fantastic!. On your way down keep an eye out for the anchors. Bolts on the far LDC are not easily seen but the tree on the ledge far RDC was fairly obvious if you are paying attention. We rigged a releasable CEM knot which was a good call as either anchor station below is small and far offset from center which could present pull issues. We used the tree RDC for R6.

The exit started out fairly obvious up a very steep loose trail but soon fizzles in the rock ledge above. We continued up the only large obvious drainage that we could see and encountered a few slightly challenging but fun class 5 climbs up intricate sandstone. At this point we may have some how gotten off track from the KML which seemed to be just parallel to us, (maybe next drainage over?) however it worked out fine and we made it up without issue.

This canyon was a lot of fun, beautiful, interesting and not too hot on a summer day, given the higher elevation.

Comment: Really beautiful deep slot! Technical section somewhat short especially compared to the arduous exit and long road walk. The little bit of water encountered was easily avoidable. We opted to follow the watercourse down to Kolob Creek. There were a few bonus rappels going this way, some extra slot, and some neat dissolution pockets along the way. Kolob creek was entirely dry. We spent about 45 mins here before heading up the MIA. Got off track and onto some sketchy 5th class terrain shortly after starting up. Eventually got back on track halfway up. Total time 7.5 hours.

Comment: Easy process to obtain permit. The canyon was very enjoyable despite record highs, and afternoon shade made the MIA exit tolerable. All anchors in good condition. We re-rigged the tree-ledge to break the penultimate upper canyon rappel into 2 stages, and the bolted belay station also appeared to have fresh webbing.

Comment: This one surprised us. We had low expectations but wanted something dry and secluded, we took a chance on this and it was great. Beautiful fall colors high up on Kolob Terrace, an interesting canyon with a little bit of everything - down climbing, big-ish multi stage rappels, some narrows. All in all, a good day.

Comment: First rap by BluuGnome's beta is better done as two rappels.

Rap three and four by BluuGnome's beta is better combined as one 280 foot rappel. This avoids the awkward transition on a small exposed ledge.
