Comments: This is a good canyon. Some nice sculpted rocks, some interesting short down climbs and like most other canyons in the area… brush and boulders! Certainly a good time if you know what you’re getting. Only one anchor should be replaced (rappel 1). The webbing is getting crunchy.

Comment: Great mini canyon in Oak Creek. Straight forward approach, via trail which is a nice plus, and a low rating on the Vegetative Hardship scale (VH-1) make this a breeze. We ended up doing 4 rappels, skipping R2 by downclimbing it. All webbing was in good shape but R4 may need replaced in the next few months.

Comment: Some rappels seem chosen with the desire to snag every piece of shrubbery possible on rappel, consider reorienting rappel anchors and inspecting drops, most can be downclimbed, not a remarkable canyon but not unpleasant either.

Comment: My wife and I loved this canyon! Such an underrated canyon. Amazing boulders at the start of the descent. A lot of scrambling down through thick vegetation with minimal torny plants. More to get through than preferred but totally worth the look and feel of this canyon. Huge trees in the middle of the water course. Several tall tree leaning over make for such a great day. Didn't find one of the rappels but easily down climbed for our skills. Some rappels could be down climbed but I prefer to rap them. Pool of water easily traversed RDC. Makes for a great reflection shot with the towering cliff walls across the creek. Had heard that the other mini canyons close by were better than this one but having done those previously, I'm glad we ran this canyon together. Had the whole canyon to ourselves. We parked at the exit, hiked down to the start. Car to car 3 hours 45 mins with soaking up the views. We took our time and truly enjoyed each part of this beautiful canyon.

Comment: Trickle of water in the canyon. Anchors looked OK but may need replacing. Bring extra webbing. Lots of down hiking on boulders.

Comment: Even though the high in Phoenix was 111 degrees the canyon was shady and cool mid day. Only a few stagnate pools all avoidable. Second rappel was easily down climbed, as it was dry. This is not a great canyon, but if you are looking for a short cool canyon during the hot summer this is it.

Comment: A hidden little gem.

2.5 hours.

Trickle of water and deeps pools throughout the canyon. After downclimbing the head of the drainage approximately 15' on the left side, I hiked a short distance to the first drop and replaced a weathered anchor off a rock pinch. After R1 some pesky log jams slow down travel. I found 3 more anchors in good condition and ghosted a drop off a large pine. 2 of the 5 rappels could be downclimbed in dry conditions. I think overall this is a worthwhile route. I named it because it was not published or documented. If the pioneers of this route have another name in place, please contact me at [email protected] and I will update the history and Information.
