Comment: After many years, returned to do Ruta Vertigo! Mauricio gave us the beta on the route, since he had done it just a week before. He suggested the rock throwing technique to get the first rung, and advised us about the rock climbing part to bypass the removed tibetan bridge. The wind was absolutely howling on the descent. We took 7hrs car-to-car, and even without the ziplines I still like it better than Nido de los Aguiluchos. Just like the first time I did it in 2010, when Hans and I climbed it not knowing about the ziplines, and rappelled off the top :-)

Comment: After lunch at the doctors house we proceeded to the start of the vía ferata. Having scoped the pitch last w/e I quickly scaled the wall. I got Fernando to belay him. Made a 2:1 with a progress capture so Fernando could pull himself up. I didn't have any shock absorbing lanyard, but felt very secure the entire time and would be happy to do it again that way. The route was well protected (not run out) the rungs are numerous. The views are spectacular. Seeing as Fernando had just bought his gear yesterday, and abseiled for the first time only hours ago, he did very well. I wouldn't bring very many people on a route like this that I hadn't done before. The hanging ladders were much more secured than I was expecting. Used a caribiner chain on the tandem speed. The first flying fox has a sag and you want to push off as much as possible to minimise the distance you need to pull yourself along the cable at the other end. Some down via ferrata followed then some waking. The first pitch was 35m not the 30 id read in some places. I managed to downclimb to a ledge and Fernando helped me add some pull cord. We rapped down a second pitch to avoid the step second flying fox. It was around 50m. It was pretty much dark at this point, but we decided to do the optional flying fox. I went first and had to absorb some of the impact with my legs. Fernando went much quicker. I was the only one with a headlamp, so I lit the wall up for him. He ended up losing a bit of skin when he grabbed the cable briefly to loose speed as well as turn around. Another pitch followed. Then scrabbled back down running into a few cacti on the way.
