Comments: This was a very cool canyon, with special challenges and opportunities to play. We found the pot hole section ho-hum but made the most of it by playing with the wanker. Pot holes easy, no keepers at all, but more challenging situations while entering the pot hole than exiting them. Great partner assist practice. WOW! That 207’ rappel is………SPICY. Definitely only enter if you have advanced marginal anchor skills as this is not a rappel to try for the faint of heart. More importantly than knowing anchors is knowing how to set them up successfully because if these wash away and your first in the canyon without an initial set up, prepare for excitement or misery. 200’ pull cord barely reached when stretched, and with the rapide 3’ below the edge of the rock edge.

Comment: Easy approach with damn good views of Cassidy Arch and Fern's Nipple. The canyon itself had appeared to have a very overrated pothole section - very little effort needed to escape the potholes. In addition, the canyon was wide open - it only slotted up in the last few yards from what I remember. After slotting up came the big next to last rappel - holy moly, what a sketchy rappel. It's a fairly committing 210' rap off an old dead man anchor backed up with some cairns for good measure. The guys and I were nearly drawing straws to see who goes first. Me, being the guy that got everybody into this mess, decided to go first. One tense rap later (where ES surprisingly almost had a panic attack) and we were done with the canyon. We ran into some people tripping mushrooms on the way out. ST, ES, TT, BK, JG, ES, and BK's friend

Comment: Potholes only knee- to thigh-deep, and not too chilly. Pothole section was fun and a good team wxercise. All anchors in good shape- inspected and/or tested w/ backup. Last rap was cool! Be sure to check out the natural arch DCR of the last rap! Slow approach hike until one party member turned around for the car. 3:20 in technical section.
