Comments: 4 hours TH to TH (Does not include shuttle or rope recovery time)

Three raps, narrow down climbs, and a lot of fun--Strike 2 is the bigger brother to Slideanide. While we did set up some meat anchors for some in the group as we progressed through the canyon, with appropriate skills and a comfortability downclimbing, all of the "drops" can be down climbed.

Anchors are in serviceable shape considering this canyon likely does not get as much visitation as others. There was some water in a few places all of which can be stemmed over.

We brought a 300 foot rope and fixed it in place for the first anchor. You really need a long rope for this one. You could, depending on where you build the first anchor, extend it with about 50ft of webbing and use a 200 foot rope, but that is not practical or all that safe to set up. You really need to build an anchor right at the start and in doing so you need about 250 feet of rope. Also, you can set up and anchor with the intention to pull the rope but it would not be the cleanest pull. If pulling the first rope I would recommend fiddling, otherwise do as we did and fix the first drop and recover the rope at the end.

After finishing the canyon we recovered our start vehicle, and at the same time we also went and recovered the rope that we left fixed at the first drop. Our start vehicle was a 4x4, but the shuttle vehicle was not so we did have to walk the 2 miles between the 2WD and 4x4 trailheads--but only for the recovery.

This was a fun canyon but not easy to get to. We did enjoy the scenic drive to the canyon on the Notom-Bullfrog road, and also the Burr Trail on the return. The canyon is not that long, but between shuttle recovery time, and transit to and from the canyon plan a full day for this one.
