Comments: Webbing slung off tree high DCR at R3 was missing, the anchor appears to have been moved back into the watercourse. We rebuilt it, as the webbing was pinched by rocks and we updated it so that the webbing is now inspectable. Looks like new webbing at R2 and R6. Almost no water left in canyon, but a skin of mud and algae on most of the walls will get your ropes pretty gross. Super fab morning!

Comment: Ran this canyon as a group of 11 for our Halloween adventure with everyone dressed up. Started at 8 pm and ended the canyon at 2 am. I believe R3 has a slung rock option that I replaced the webbing on that one. Very fun canyon for my first night run. Before dropping into the canyon, you can look at the city lights from a distance which I highly recommend. Pictures don’t do it justice. Lastly, when beginning the scramble descent down, a hand line can be slung around a tree for 40-50 feet or so to help speed things up and to get less confident members down quicker.

Comment: Another great night run of Supercloud canyon.

All anchors other than one had good webbing. Replaced the bad one on R3 and moved it from the Tree RDC to ta more convenient boulder in the water course. The Parking-lot After-Party was great too!

Comment: The approach is covered in snow, i'd recommend micro spikes. We opted to use Rap 0 since the slope down was covered in snow, the webbing appeared to be new and is blue. Rap 1 has new webbing on the bolts. Down climbs were a bit tricky due to snow.

Plan on getting your lower half wet, water was definitely flowing for a dry canyon (check picture).

Comment: First time through since the wet winter/spring, we were curious to see how all the water and snow treated the canyon. Some new rockfall and erosion to note. Someone has moved the R1 anchor off the DCL bolts and placed it closer to the edge around a DCL boulder. Webbing is in good condition on all anchors, however R6 saw quite a bit of action and can no longer be called 'Ol Creaky. Instead, the large dead tree has now been backfilled by an enormous amount of rubble. The tree held and is currently 'holding' back all that new weight. Obviously it was strong enough to do so, and I am no engineer, but I do wonder how much stress all that weight put on it. In any event, the anchor appears to have been backed up moderately recently with some new blue webbing, but the old black webbing that was trapped by the debris and rubble remains. We did not mess with it after some discussion of cutting the black webbing away... but that should probably be cleaned up at some point. Some new treefall and rubble in the exit, but otherwise nothing of note. Super fun morning, 3 hours car to car.

Comment: First time hitting Super Cloud and we did some extra mileage on the approach and exit which led to a longer run. Our next outing should be a lot quicker.

There is a small trickle of water in the canyon which created some beautiful photo ops. All rappels anchors are in good shape with newer webbing. For R3, there was a rock anchor DCR (see attached). R4 went through some questionable bushes / branches (probably not poison oak after further inspection - attached) so we ghosted off a tree DCR.

Exited via the shuttle route. Fun canyon! Will do again.

Comment: The clouds were hugging the peaks around Mount Wilson. On one side there are the mountains, partially enshrouded in a white blanket, glowing in the moonlight. On the other is the sparkling city lights. A beautiful place to be on a Monday night.

On another note, after the last rappel someone has installed a bunch of....nails in the rock. They're maybe 1/4-1/2 inch thick and sticking out of the rock about 6 inches. They're evenly placed about 2 arm's length with the seemingly intended purpose of providing climbing assistance for not very capable people (it's an easy climb). Looks like Hellraiser in the granite.

After the last rappel the path out is very clean. It seems the same person who installed the Hellraiser nails in the granite, also has access to a chainsaw and various and sundry other tools. It's pretty much a trail that joins with the Gabrieleno trail.

Comment: Certainly much more debris in the canyon after R4 than in years past. Otherwise pretty typical run. Webbing on R5 is fresh.

Exit after the cabin is very much cleared since last report and is wide open.

When we finally exited, the rear drivers side window of our shuttle vehicle was smashed and the registration was taken.

Comment: Anchors all in good condition, however the exit is absolutely clogged with treefall from the series of winter storms in late 2019. Trail blocked and impassable at cabin near Gabrelino trail, you have to navigate the rocky wash to get out. Estimate the exit took us almost an hour due to the number of downed trees after R6.

Comment: First canyon in quite a while, so we went slower. Webbing was replaced on rap 1, webbing was not replaced on rap 3, and it SHOULD be replaced on the next run. Webbing was removed from rap 4 as it was sun-faded and not necessary (bolt anchor in the bushes in LDC). Rap 4 also had 6mm cordelette that was wrapped around a boulder 15ft back, which was removed. The cordelette ran on top of fallen debris and bushes to back up the webbing on the log, the cordelette also crossed the the main trail and was a little higher than ankle height, and was a tripping hazard for anyone who wasn't paying attention.

Most importantly, someone drilled and cemented large nails into the rocks in the lower sections of the exit in order to "help" traverse small sections of rock and brush easier. The installation didn't seem sloppy, but the installation of these nails was definitely not required, considering there were alternate routes through those short sections.

Comment: Smooth and fun descent. Webbing is good with a few starting to look sun beaten (R5).

Exit - Tree blocking trail at the cabin has since been partially cleared such that the trail is visible.

Comment: Great time in super cloud for the first time! We went the single track route before the gate.

R0: We had 2x 200' ropes available, so we used both to get pretty far down the loose sloped section from the webbing on the pine tree in the middle.

R3: Anchor is now a slung boulder in the middle of trail, not tree as described.

Canyon was mostly dry with occasional trickle.

Exit: Note the very slippery sections of wet rock, and deep holes filled with leaves that are sometimes tough to avoid.

Immediately after the remains of the cabin, there is a relatively recently downed tree obscuring the trail. Navigate over the tree or it is possible to divert to the right of the cabin remains and climb down the dam wall.
