Comments: Checked out new alternate approach to Thimble, following the watercourse out of Blue Lake. Directly down from the lake: one nuisance rappel, two excellent rappels, then follow a brushy tunnel through talus down into the hanging valley. Will update the beta. Lower Thimble excellent as always. Could use some bolts on a few of the rappels for better visibility on rappellers. Mutual surprise in running into a group of waterfall photographers at the bottom of the finale rappel.

Comment: First known descent of Upper Thimble. Set a shuttle up to the Blue Lake trailhead and hiked in perhaps a mile to the top of Upper Thimble. Six rappels on upper Thimble, then crossed the hanging valley (10min) to descend classic lower Thimble. This route adds +6 rappels, including the descent of what may be a 350ft multi-tier waterfall. Anchoring is NOT good on this rappel and currently requires a sketchy traverse up a tree which is hard to protect and a dirty rappel back to the bottom of the falls. It would be great if the anchor situation could be improved on this descent. Bolting is really the only solution for safety; probably a good site could be found on one of the tiers about half-way down. Bottom of upper Thimble has a lot of debris washed in and low water currently, but a pretty action-packed day with 13 rappels.

Comment: Decent bushwhack ,but not bad to get up to 3800'. Great creek with lovely runs of swept clean bedrock and some nice falls. We did find some rather dodgy anchors towards the bottom; did the previous party run out of quicklinks? Running your rope directly through nylon is not best practice & more of a measure of last resort.  :(
