Comments: 4 stars and special challenges because it’s a really unique day out if you’re mostly a canyoneer like me. Climb-wise, the west side chimney approach is super easy. Big holds all the way. There are exposed segments where a fall would be potentially fatal. Our team had a real climber with the skills, a dynamic rope and a few trad pieces to let the rest of us top-rope up. Rappelling back down was easy and fun.

Comment: I love to ascend Weavers Needle...then sort of canyoneer back down:). I have free climbed it 3xs no problem. Mostly just 10-20 foot ascents with ample holds. Problem is the peripheral view where it seems like a 400' free fall. 120' static line used to suffice but someone cut and removed the huge antique eye bolts so now a 200' is needed--or 100' w 100' pull cord...if I remember right. Down climbing is harder in my opinion, so the rope descent is great. But I have seen anchored climbers and a free hand down climber on diff trips.
