Comments: Great fun day in Woodward. Hot outside, but the water temp was perfect. Lots of creek walking. Plenty of scrambling over and "limboing" under log piles. Downclimbed around R9 due to late timing and strainer in flow.

Comment: First time checking out this canyon. We scouted it as a potentially good canyon for beginners, so we drove to the top parking area and dropped into the creek from the North leaving a vehicle at the bottom of the creek at take out. This is a narrow woody creek at the top and I understand why there is the bushwack trail options for the main part of the canyon. A lot of creek walking and a lot of negotiating wood and down climbs.
Once you finally get into the main technical part of the canyon and it opens up and it's a decent canyon. Not a lot in interesting or exciting rappels and still a lot of down climbs and wood and small log jams to negotiate. I was wearing just my 3mm farmer john and was plenty fine if not hot at times (air temp was in the mid to high seventies) and my partner was in a full 5mm wetsuit and was constantly hot and taking every opportunity to soak his wetsuit. Use the written beta on the drops as a guide but be prepared for changes as we weren't really sure which rappels were which after a while and I think we downclimbed some of the rappels and rappelled some of the down climbs. After the long creek walk, we finally made it to the bridge and the takeout car. Not a bad canyon but a lot of work and creek walking for little payoff. Not one we will bring beginners to. The drive to the upper parking was also hard on our little economy cars. Several erosion control berms across the road scraped out undercarriages hard no mater how slow or what angle we tried to cross them.

Comment: Training outing, so time will be slower than a standard run. Parked at the bottom and hiked up to avoid the hostile local's property. Trail route over to Kueffler is a bit overgrown, but still followable. Up at the top in 1hrs, 20min. 6.5hrs from drop-in to when we popped out at the car. There is a new-to-me clear cut above R7 & R8, just north of the confluence with Little Woodward -- might actually mean there's new improved access to the main technical section? We attempted the fast exit, but it's so overgrown now there's very little trail left. The best segment runs from the confluence with Little Woodward down to the swamp. Unless that trail is cleared out again, would probably recommend parties unaccustomed to bushwhacking stay in the creek. A good day out & much fun was had.

Comment: Most other objectives we were interested in around Indian Heaven were at flood stage, so fell back to Woodward which had good water. Very cold day between water and wind out in the Columbia Gorge. Parked at the bottom and thrashed up the west side to drop in right at R1. Woodward could really benefit from a community service project to put in a better trail. A couple of the drops have wonky anchors and could benefit from bolting. The hike in always seems to take three times longer than the exit. Fun, if cold, day out.

Comment: Attempted to shuttle up, but encountered new hostile local about 0.5mi past the end of the pavement. bit odd as I've been visiting the falls via upper Kueffler Road without incident since at least as far back as 2012.
Returned to the lower trailhead and thrashed in up the west side of the creek. Great water conditions and fun. We only ran the main stem of waterfalls (~8 rappels).

Comment: Nice little canyon. Not quite as brushy as little Woodward.
