Introduction

Confluencia Mágica is a short but pretty canyon with a great pay-to-play ratio if you have a shuttle car. After the suit-up point, the rappels come in rapid succession and at the bottom is a scenic confluence with a large jumpable waterfall just upstream. Not a long canyon but worth spending a couple hours to do.

Approach

Park a car or get dropped off at the location indicated and hike down an overgrown road. At the first drainage turn left and continue down in the small stream for about 25 more minutes until you reach the first drop. At this point there are stairs coming down from canyon left, which would provide access but also shorten an already short day. You might want to do the short version however if you only have one vehicle, to shorten walking the shuttle.

Descent

The 4 rappels are one after another and are over soon. At the confluence you will see a large waterfall joining from the right, and another set of stairs on the left. You can jump this waterfall by climbing up the hillside gully and taking the local's use trail to get to its top. Although jumpable from the top, it is a technical jump and the wall comes out a bit so you need to push off HARD. It's safer to set a handline to get a little lower down the side before jumping. Be sure to scout the pool at the bottom for obstacles.

After the confluence, don't take the stairs but continue downstream for another 10 minutes or so doing some small but enjoyable jumps.

Exit

Once you reach the dam, cross over and climb the ladder up and then down, and continue out and swing around the chainlink fence.
