Introduction[edit]

The Conuma River is a playful canyon in the Gold River/Tahsis Area. This unique playful canyon allows you to explore large jumps and amazing scenery without any technical rope work.

There are some mandatory 8-10m jumps to navigate the canyon down to the exit but otherwise this canyon is truly a choose your own adventure with a mix of technical and large jump options while surrounded by amazing scenery.

Approach[edit]

While Driving along Head Bay Road you will cross the Conuma River at (49.81547, -126.34844) Off to the right while travelling toward Tahsis is where to park for the shuttle to the starting location. Once geared up and ready to go continue heading west for 400m until Conuma Main. Once on the logging road travel 2km staying to the right to the bridge along the river at (49.82440, -126.34931) park here and enter.

Descent[edit]

This Canyon is defied by the multiple jumps that can be found on either side of the river. Giving an extremely playful vibe to choosing what challenges you would like to encounter.

Some of these range from 6-15m and there's a possibility for larger jumps if one chooses. There's an interesting pothole feature that you can jump into. Be careful as any forward momentum can end up in disaster for this technical jump.

Further down there are a few mandatory jumps.

  • Jump-1 (Mandatory) a 10m jump about 3/4 of the way down the canyon. Climb up canyon left when you reach the mouth of the first waterfall of the canyon. Jump 10m to any deep location.
  • Jump-2 (Mandatory) a small 4m jump after a series of switch backs. Small falls on canyon right climb the large boulder to the left of it. Run and jump far to clear the underwater apron.

Exit[edit]

Once you reach the bridge along Head Bay Road, exit canyon right back to the parking spot where you shuttled from.

Red tape[edit]

None that I am aware of.
