Introduction[edit]

6 hours car to car. Mono bolts.

Approach[edit]

Start at Coombadjha camping area, walk along washpool walk (tourist track). Go down the unnamed tributary on the map as per entry point on GPX (beware - it is full of giant stinging trees - do not touch them!). Once you get to Coombadjha creek go down 1km. This is where the abseils begin.

Descent[edit]

Coombadjha Creek
Rap M L/R Description
10m RL Handling to get to abseil
R1 20m RL Go down two short slippery sections and then into overhang into pool. Can stay out of flow on RL with abseiling skill. Can jump 6m from overhang into boil. Possible jump on RR (will need anchor to get across flow and then scramble up. Jump is probably 10-ish metres).
R2 20m RL Out of flow.
R2 Alt; Jump 10m RR Sketchy into 2.5m deep water, very small landing zone. Check depth first.
R3 15m RR Two different mono options, high flow and low flow.
Jump 4m RR From river right after waterfall. Alternatively, 8m jump on the left. Can also just walk down on the right.
R4 20m? RR Through slot, only passable in low flows. Retentives at bottom of the pools in the slot.
R4 Alt; Jump 8m Walk out right past slot and jump into big pool.
Slide 5m Slide into small pool with spillover.
Drop below this slide needs to be bolted - there are rocks in pool so cannot jump

Exit[edit]

To exit, we bashed up next to each abseil until we got back to top and then walked back up Coombadjha creek, up tributary and then back along tourist track.

  • Jump 8m - bash up through bush on RR.
  • R3 - bash up cliff on RL.
  • R2 and R1 - bash up cliff on RR right next to abseils.
