Introduction[edit]

This is a dramatic canyon situated deep within the Mazatzal Wilderness.

Due largely to the lack of accessibility, a full descent of the North Fork is a highly demanding endeavor and should not be underestimated. Multiple experienced parties have attempted this canyon and been shut down.

The recommended itinerary is three days: one for approach, one for descent and exit of the canyon, and one to complete the several mile trek back down the mountain to Barnhardt TH.

Approach[edit]

About 9 miles from Barnhardt TH to the first rappel.

Descent[edit]

Multiple large rappels.

There are no bolts in the canyon. Be prepared to have to build/rebuild natural anchors.

Expect several swims and wades.

Exit[edit]

Note: the exit route defined in the attached KML file is a rough estimate. It is not precise and should not be relied on.
