Introduction[edit]

Devil's Hot Chicken brings some spice but access to an amazing slot within the towers north of Chicken Point. You start by summiting the Eastern Twin Butte which is a great adventure in itself. The approach has some great 3rd and 4th class scrambling albeit some loose rock so take your time. Summit Views are on point. The descent rewards you with amazing hour glass views out of huge alcoves.

R-Rating: The R-Rating is for the loose rock on the steep approach, and between r1 and r3. An experienced leader, fiddle stick, and small group size are recommended for this route. Do not attempt this route in less than perfect weather or with those new to canyoneering, as there are better options in the area for those conditions.

Approach[edit]

Approach on trails: Broken Arrow to Twin Buttes to Hog Heaven to a social trail leading up to the saddle between both twin buttes. At the saddle head east following the obvious route looking for two prominent chimneys in the cliff band. Lookers right chimney you will climb to make your way up. keep heading directly up following the easiest route through the 3rd/4th class terrain. Once you reach the summit check the map and navigate towards R1.

Descent[edit]

Many rappels were fiddlesticked on this route to minimize the potential for rockfall. Know this pic and route. Stick to the established anchors.
