Introduction
18 rappels in only 1000ft horizontal, this is a narrow and steep canyon. We descended this in the 2023 int'l rendezvous, but the water was little more than a trickle. Edu said that in 2019 there was a healthy flow and the canyon experience was much better. A short exit down to a public swimming pool, with vendors selling food.
Approach
Follow the well established trail contouring the hillsides for about 30 min to a concrete water storage pool supplying water to the community below. Descend here.
Descent
Exit
From the final (and largest) rappel, hike up the obvious trail on DCR for about a minute to an abandoned concrete camping lodge. Then drop back down to a public swimming pool at the end of Dos Sasas.
Red tape
Permission required to descend. Please see Coroico region page for more information.
